How to Fix GT7 Network Issues

Troubleshooting guide for Victory Dash connectivity with Gran Turismo 7

1. Check Your Local Network

Victory Dash relies on your local Wi-Fi network.

Both the PS5/PS4 and your phone must be on the same network:

  • Same Wi-Fi network name

  • Same Wi-Fi band

  • Many routers separate into: Home 2.4G and Home 5G

  • Your phone and PS5 must be on the same one

If possible, keep PS5 wired (Ethernet) and phone on Wi-Fi — this works fine.

Avoid these setups:

  • Phone on mobile data (5G/LTE)

  • Phone on guest Wi-Fi networks

  • Wi-Fi extenders that create a different subnet

  • VPNs on your phone (Nord, Surfshark, etc.)

2. iOS-Specific Fixes

Victory Dash uses Apple's Local Network Permission to receive GT7 UDP packets. If you don't allow this, the app cannot receive anything.

Make sure Local Network Permission is ON

  • iPhone → Settings → Victory Dash → Local Network → ON

If it's already ON:

  • Toggle it OFF → ON

  • Force close Victory Dash

  • Reopen and try again

Check for Private Wi-Fi Address

iOS may assign a fake MAC address that breaks communication.

  • Settings → Wi-Fi → tap the (i) next to your network →

  • Disable Private Wi-Fi Address → reconnect Wi-Fi.

Disable VPN / DNS Filters (if any)

  • iCloud Private Relay

  • AdGuard / NextDNS

  • VPN profiles under Settings → General → VPN

These can block UDP traffic.

3. Android-Specific Fixes

Grant Local Network Permissions

Android calls it differently, depending on the device:

  • Nearby Devices

  • Local Network

  • LAN Access

  • Wi-Fi Control

  • Allow network discovery

Go to: Settings → Apps → Victory Dash → Permissions

Enable anything related to nearby devices / local network.

Disable Battery Optimization

Android is notorious for killing background listeners.

Settings → Battery → Battery Optimization → Find Victory Dash → set to Unrestricted.

Disable VPN / Private DNS

Settings → Network →

  • Turn off VPN

  • Set Private DNS → Off

4. Port Issues (Address in Use / EPERM / Send Failed)

Victory Dash listens on UDP 33740 by default. GT7 sends data to the port the app is listening on.

Common Errors:

  • OS Error: Operation not permitted, errno = 1

  • SocketException: Address already in use, errno = 48

  • Send failed (OS Error: Operation not permitted)

These usually mean:

A. Another app is already using 33740

Examples:

  • SimHub

  • Other GT7 telemetry apps

  • Android system didn't fully close the socket

Fix:

  • Fully close Victory Dash

  • Restart your phone

  • Reopen Victory Dash

B. App does not have permission to bind to the port

Usually happens if:

  • Local Network permission was denied

  • VPN is active

  • Private DNS is enabled

  • Firewall apps are installed on Android (NetGuard, AFWall, RethinkDNS, etc.)

Fix by disabling all of the above.

C. User changed the port manually (optional)

Victory Dash supports the port range: 33740 → 33840

If you type a custom port:

  • Make sure GT7 is also forwarding to that port

  • Or simply reset to 33740 (recommended)

5. Restart Devices (Fixes 80% of Cases)

Do this in order:

  1. Restart your PS5/PS4

  2. Restart your phone

  3. Restart your router (if possible)

  4. Reopen Victory Dash

  5. Re-enter your PS5 IP address

This resets all stuck UDP routes, NAT states, and socket bindings.

6. Check Your PS5 Network Settings

Go to: Settings → Network → View Connection Status

Verify: PS5 is connected to the same LAN

IP address looks like:

  • 192.168.x.x or

  • 10.0.x.x

If it looks like:

  • 100.x.x.x

  • 169.x.x.x

  • CGNAT addresses

→ that means the PS5 is not on your local network.

7. SimHub Users (Important)

If you use SimHub dashboards or bass shakers:

SimHub must port-forward GT7 telemetry.

In SimHub go to:

  • GT7 Settings

  • Enable Forward Telemetry to Another App

  • Note the "Forwarded Port"

  • In Victory Dash → Settings → Enable custom port

  • Enter that port

This is required because SimHub takes exclusive control of GT7's UDP packets.

8. Things That WILL Break Telemetry

These are known to block Victory Dash:

  • PC hotspot / iPhone hotspot

  • Guest Wi-Fi networks

  • Mesh networks where phone joins a different node than PS5

  • Carrier-grade NAT routers

  • Hotel Wi-Fi

  • VPN apps

  • "Safe browsing" modes (Samsung Secure Wi-Fi, iCloud Private Relay)

  • Parental control routers

  • Antivirus firewalls on Android (rare but happens)

Still Having Issues?

If none of the steps above fix your connection:

Create a new thread in the Victory Dash Subreddit with:

  • Phone model + Android/iOS version

  • Router model

  • Your PS5 IP address (first three octets only, example: 192.168.1.xxx)

  • Whether SimHub is installed

  • Whether VPN/DNS blocking is installed

  • Screenshot of the Victory Dash connection screen

We'll help you get it sorted quickly.
